Australia - The Movie

Courage to fight here. It took firm Moxie, courage and commitment to a two-saga-and a-half hour movie in Australia, very aware of all the sentimental, romantic ideal, simple heroism ends, the imagination and taste of the old timey western produce . And one of his recurring themes is the music and even graphics from Judy Garland "The Wizard of Oz." And now the climax, the Japanese bombing of northern Australia taken February 19, 1942.

But his appeal is as strong asGold. cynical film critic to have a field day and the young audience will be impatient with a film that is not too modern short attention not only to avoid the sentimentality yet. Because of the way in which it is to say that this is the way we were. I liked what I was trying to do, and his greeting to the values that we loved films. The characters are mostly roles in thoroughbreds.

The film makes no apologies. For information on the characters, human effort andthe nature of men insatiable passion for the acquisition and power, nothing less than a monumental canvas will take time. He wasted no time and no space. This is the Outback, the references are as big as the screen wants to do them.

Director Baz Luhrmann has cleverly anticipated that certain universal values of Western civilization and unchanging. Since the calculated film style helped build, in no small part from a computer-Stampede cattle, how the actions ofcourageous, seemingly impossible task of the hero, as are the very human motivations that are powered by the heart.

The film begins its great saga in September 1939. Hitler invaded Poland. The prim and proper British aristocrat, Lady Sarah inherited Ashley (Nicole Kidman), real estate in Darwin, northern Australia. His long, long way from the motherland will be motivated primarily by reports of her husband's philandering. Once there, he found that hemurdered.

In fact, this rugged cowboy country where a man is measured by its blood alcohol. Lady Ashley has come its way down, but great property, Faraway Downs. When they are bad, careless attitude perfectly noble, she drank in the lounge already hoarse unbalanced. But she is fascinated by the charm nine years, half-caste aboriginal Nullah (Walters Brandon). Inevitably, that will carry the film.

Keep out of the estate is on its way1500 head of cattle on Darwin Harbour. And 'the Australian military to buy them. Following a confrontation with Lady Ashley insensitive cowboy Neil Fletcher (David Wenham), related to substance abuse Nullah, not to say that he secretly run cattle on a coverage election rival, fired him. It takes the team with him, so they go to anyone in the herd.

Relief comes in a nice veteran pilot, Drover (Hugh Jackman), a died in woolAussie Cowboy He-Man. But very friendly with Agoriginals be, is not particularly popular around. And now missing a team that returns more than ready Aboriginal staff, Nullah, and, of course, Lady Ashley, the ace of a pilot.

With the aim of driving the cattle baron and politician Big Boss in Darwin, King Carney (Bryan Brown) will sabotage has to do with Fletcher.

The unit will be an adventure. Events include a colossal Stampedetriggered by the cowardly Fletcher, an increasingly free-swinging Lady Ashley, a ball dress, and relations with the natives. Inevitably, in early February 1942, there are the Japanese attack and led heroic rescue attempt, the children of the mission offshore Iceland. In the midst of all that the love story between Lady Ashley and litigation will Drover.

Let us pause a moment to define the historical context of the film show:

In late 1930, the Japanese, powered by anational spirit, after being condemned by history that were intended to gain complete control and the Pacific Ocean, particularly in Manchuria, China and Southeast Asia, began to realize its grand strategy. Detailed plans in Japan, was the intention to attack and take possession until the end of 1941 all the rich oil and mineral resources of the Malay Peninsula, Indochina, Philippines and Indonesia.

The only power that can block their ambitions was the USfleet inHawaii. Until 1941, which unleashed a desperation on USembargo its entire oil supply driven holiday shot struck within 18 months, their combined fleet to Japan in a daring attack on Pearl Harbor.

was attacked, even if the U.S. naval base, beat the rest of the Japanese fleet and air forces of Singapore, Indo-China and other ports. Of particular interest was the tropical northern Australian city of Darwin, who reached into a rage two months after PearlHarbor.

"Australia" deals with that which flows in a fury of military recklessness, in this case a terrorist attack to scare the innocent. This film is not in Japan are also welcomed.

The end is in fact very sentimental. But it is a feeling that our kneejerk reactions pseudo-sophisticated challenges. This is quality stuff. There is little to complain about except for a minor scene here and there unjustifiably extended.

We need more such unpretentious, honestFilms. Go for it.
